Prince Humperdinck: A Gentle FeLV+ Giant Seeks Forever Home
Move over, rodents! Principe Humperdinck (we call him Prince for short) is ready to trade his outdoor crown for a life of luxury indoors. This handsome brown tabby is a sweetheart in a sturdy package. Estimated to be 4 years old (born around April 1st, 2020), Prince is:
- A total softie: Don’t be fooled by his regal name! Prince is a mellow and affectionate cat who loves to be pet.
- The king of chill: Forget sword fights, Prince prefers a sunny windowsill or a cozy lap to survey his kingdom.
- A connoisseur of wet food: This gentle giant enjoys the finer things in life, especially a delicious plate of wet food.
- A tiny voice with a big heart: Prince’s quiet meows are as adorable as they are surprising for such a big boy.
Special note: Prince has tested positive for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV). This means he needs a special home environment to keep him healthy and happy.
Here’s what you need to know about FeLV:
- It’s a virus that weakens a cat’s immune system, making them more susceptible to other illnesses.
- It is NOT contagious to humans or other animals besides cats.
- FeLV+ cats can live long and happy lives with proper care, including regular veterinary checkups, a nutritious diet, and a stress-free environment.
Prince’s ideal home:
- Calm and quiet, with one or two humans who appreciate his gentle soul and can provide him with the specialized care he needs.
- A home where he will be the only cat or with another FeLV+ cat (to prevent transmission of FeLV). Nemo might be a good buddy for him!
- A place with plenty of sunlight for napping and world domination (from the comfort of a windowsill, of course).
- Someone who can shower him with love and wet food.
Prince is:
- FeLV+. We recommend speaking with your vet about adopting an FeLV+ cat. Can only be with other FeLV+ cats.
- Neutered, Microchipped and given age-appropriate vaccines.
- Litter trained
- Socialized, but may need time to adjust to a new home
