Paprika and her Kittens

Updates on Paprika and her kittens!

Thursday, April 22, 2021

They will be 5 weeks old on Saturday, April 24th, 2021. They enjoy playtime out of the crate every day now. As soon as I enter the room, they run to the front of the cage crying. They love to run, play and wrestle with each other. They also like to use me like a jungle gym. A few of them will roll over into their backs, and ask for belly rubs. All five are happy sweet kittens, despite their mom still showing her dislike towards me. She has not rubbed off on them.

Meet Paprika and her kittens; Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, Thyme, and Chili. Paprika was part of a feral colony in Fort Edward, NY. When her caretakers at the Department of Public Works noticed she looked pregnant, they reached out to The Feline Connection for help. Soon after being placed in a loving foster home, her little family made its arrival—on the first day of spring! Little Chili wasn’t doing well at first and needed 24 hours of intensive care with his foster mom before he was strong enough to nurse on his own, but he and his litter-mates are now thriving!

Foster mom reports today (April 13, 2021): “Mom is still very protective, but is tolerant of me handling the kittens. She knows I will put them back. The kittens are starting to play and become more social. They like to have their little bellies rubbed, and their personalities are starting to come out.”We urgently need more foster families. We are having to turn away cats that need homes, and have some pregnant cats that need a safe place to have their last kittens. Fill out a Foster Waiver today on The Feline Connection’s website. We do have a waiting list for kittens, so these kids are most likely to find homes among our current list.
